12/21/2023 0 Comments Logic vs fruity loops![]() ![]() You sidechain by sending signal through an auxiliary channel called a bus to a compressor, rather than using a peak limiter (wtf?) like in FL. Logic's plug ins work the RIGHT way, as opposed to FL. They ARE a bit tricky to get a hang of though. I mean yeah, if you buy a $100 multiband compressor plugin it's definitely going to own the shit out of Logic's plugins, but for general useage Logic's plug ins are very very reliable. However Logic has freaking amazing filters and effects, you shouldn't ever have to download any, and free ones will never compare. For free AUs try here and here PM me if you want to know my favorite free AUs ![]() ![]() If you really want to get impressive sounds you're going to have to buy synths though. You can also download a wrapper for VSTs too. However ONLY Universal Binary works with Logic, some older plugins will not work because they are PPC. You'll definitely want to download some free AUs, contrary to popular belief there ARE some very good ones out there. Logic's synths are very good though, but they're a bit tough to get a good result from, though people who know them well can make some pretty decent stuff. True but most professional electronica is made in Logic or Cubase these days (also pro tools, abelton.) As you can see you can make some damn good shit in Logic (Logic 7 here) But that's using almost exclusively 3rd party synths of course. but meh :P )Īt 2/1/09 07:22 AM, HaniiPuppy wrote: FL seems to be more geared towards electronica Also, you have to count in the skill of the actual artists - ie Oasis record in Garageband. How can you prove this? Pro's have pulled off good tracks from FL.įL seems to be more geared towards electronica, meaning that electronica written in it would sound better than other genres written in it on average:- Logic seems to be general purpose, it can be turned to any genre. FL is a great program but it's a bit more "beginner-ish" than Logic is.I keep hearing this beginner thing from a lot of people. That being said, Logic is geared to be more professional than FL. Until you count in "extras" like webcam, a microphone, the full version of the operating system, a beginner's DAW, back-up software, antivirus software, and so on. It sure as hell does, especially when PCs are much, much cheaper. See the logic (pni) behind that? Well I don't. Would just like to point out that no DAW other than Cubase can fully support VSTs since for a DAW to support them, the developers have to reverse engineer Cubase. There is no better DAW than FL8 for VST support. Good luck, hopefully someone else will provide a more valuable perspective than just "this program sucks." If you're fine with paying for legit shit, you'll be in great shape on Logic. If you want to use all the free VSTs you're going to have a tough time on Logic. So consider the type of music you're making. One thing is that it runs on Audio Unit architecture which is a bit different from VST technology. I love the interface, the environment, the features, the plugins, instruments, etc. I would recommend getting more advice on that program from someone more classified than myself.įor Logic, it is currently only on Mac. You can do most of the stuff, some things are a bit difficult to get to. ![]() That being said, FL is a great program, it's just different and has a different feel than many of the DAWs out there. I have no experience in the program, but from what people tell me, when you're using it as a DAW, it's a bit troublesome to get the same results as with other, more professional programs. FL is a great program but it's a bit more "beginner-ish" than Logic is. If you can and you're just getting a bit bored, look for some different software that's compatible with you're software. Can you create music in whatever DAW you're using. The real question is do YOU like the workflow of the program. If it's Mac or Windows, who gives a shit. Right so, in all reality, it doesn't matter what platform you're on. This is valuable information, as anything that is for a Mac is essentially not good. If it's only for Mac, then it's probably shit. ![]()
